CAMPAIGN SCOPE

Authorised by the government of the Republic of Tanzania, 'Study with a Tree' is a national campaign to remove and store atmospheric CO2 by creating school 'forest gardens'.  The campaign aims is to kick-start a thriving circular carbon economy by inspiring Tanzania's 17 to 15 year old pupils to become 'agroforesters' through an education and training  programme.

Upskilling and incentivising local farmers will escalate and accelerate atmospheric decarbonisation and deliver environmental benefits, such as ending deforestation, land clearance and burning crop waste all of which contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.  Managing carbon dioxide in this manner creates a valuable circular carbon economy.

FOR PRIVATE/PUBLIC SECTOR AND INDIVIDUAL CARBON MARKET INVESTORS

Every forest garden is a high-quality carbon removal and ESG investment product created to Carbonlogical's 'carbon source to store' methodology. Each is designed to compensate for a minimum of 2,000 tonnes of difficult or impossible to  remove historical, current, and future carbon emissions by storing atmosphere-derived carbon in the trees, food crops, biochar and soil. Depending on carbon storage requirements, investors can customise products.

The trees are included in the product as a sustainable timber investment asset which will yield a future return on the original investment. 'Study with a Tree' is also an excellent environmental, social and governance (ESG) portfolio asset, meeting many of the 17 UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) and response to the National Determined Contributions strategy, Tanzania's commitment    to the UN Paris Accord Agreement.

FOR SCHOOLS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES

A forest garden investment contributes to the escalation and acceleration momentum of reforestation across Tanzania. Investor revenues will contribute to an ethical and equitable fund yielding an annual return on investment for each school and community.

For schools, the funds will be reinvested into vital infrastructure, including reliable renewable energy, computer technology and the Internet to access the campaign's central digital communication system.

For communities, the campaign will provide the platform for farmers to continually generate revenues, secure water, energy, food resources and climate adaptation, in return for mobilising and upscaling carbon dioxide removal.

CAMPAIGN LEADERSHIP

A 12-school pilot project undertaken by Carbonlogical Ltd. and Serengeti Environmental Protection Development Alliance (SEPDA) during 2023, has secured Tanzanian Vice President Office's authorisation to deliver the 'Study with a Tree' campaign across the nation's education system.

SEPDA is a registered NGO with the Tanzanian government. The team has provided rural community support for more than 20 years and has planted more than 10 million trees over recent years.

Carbonlogical is a nature-based circular carbon solutions advisory established  in 2022 and is located at the Lancaster University Environment Centre, UK. Carbonlogical has and continues to fund the pilot project to meet the compliance requirements  of the Tanzanian government's carbon registry at the National Carbon Monitoring Centre.

BUSINESS MODEL

The campaign is an ethical, equitable and transparent business framework based on Carbonlogical's 6-step 'carbon source to store' circular carbon methodology. It seeks to inspire and motivate supplier-buyer relationship development for mutual and environmental benefit and impact.

Several UN climate, environment and social directives are integrated into a comprehensive single-source investment product. In a long-term service agreement, each CO2 tonne that is removed and stored is measured, digitally recorded and verified for quality, durability and integrity. Periodically, investors will receive up-to-date forest health and community investment reports via the 'Study with a Tree' communication system.

MISSION AND VISION

MISSION: To teach and inspire 15 million 7 to 15 year old pupils and reach 40 million rural farmers to upskill them in agroforestry, environmental protection and climate adaptation.

VISION: To rapidly escalate and accelerate atmospheric CO2 removal and storage through the education system thereby planting millions of trees each year, transforming rural poverty and environmental degradation into socio

and bioeconomic prosperity in Tanzania and beyond by 2050.

IMMEDIATE INVESTOR OPPORTUNITIES

  1. First phase funding round for the delivery of the campaign to 1,000 school
  2. The 'Study with a Tree' pilot project of 10 school garden forests comprising 20,000 mixed-species trees is available to purchase in single or multiple units.
  3. A single 100,000-tree school forest project to secure the Ruaha navigation flow. Tanzania's second longest river which feeds the Mtera dam the country's largest hydropower plant.
